The team at Wholehealth took early action during the COVID-19 pandemic to address emerging clinical and operational needs of Canadian community pharmacies from an actionable and practical standpoint. To date, our team of pharmacy leaders including Dean Miller, James Morrison, and Tiana Tilli, have prepared four frequently asked question documents for operations and two documents to address emerging patient and therapeutics questions.
The FAQs address broad topics from Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), staffing to reduce cross-exposure to the virus, physical changes to the pharmacy premises and debunking misinformation on medication use to prevent or treat COVID-19 infection. We have prepared additional supports to keep pharmacies and patients safe including screening signage for patients to read prior to entering the pharmacy and social media graphics.
Pharmacists were challenged on navigating the major third-party insurances in Canada when a patient in isolation required early refills as each adjudicator had different requirements. In response, we prepared a third-party billing guide that has been widely distributed across the industry.
Our team monitors the quickly changing COVID-19 information and concerns from pharmacists to assess what is needed in the resources we create, we expect that the list will grow!
