Mike Jaczko is a Portfolio Manager and Partner at KJ Harrison & Partners Inc. As a pharmacist himself, Mike acts as a trusted advisor to independent pharmacy owners on matters associated with succession planning and business transition. In addition, Mike advises on broader issues of wealth management pertaining to estate, corporate structure, tax planning and pharmacy valuation, with a view to maximizing pharmacy business profitability.
John Hunt serves the unique insurance and estate planning needs of affluent families and business owners. He has been in the financial services industry since 1997. Prior to that, he practiced law at Stikeman Elliott, a major Canadian law firm, and was a law professor. His legal background is instrumental in understanding the complex business succession and estate planning needs of wealthy families.
John holds the CFP (Certified Financial Planner) and CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) designations. He is also a Portfolio Manager. He holds a LL.M. (Master of Laws) from the University of Toronto and an LL.B. from the University of Windsor. He has taught at both the University of Toronto and the University of Windsor.
Max Beairsto is a Pharmacist and Valuation Analyst with Enterprise Valuators, an Edmonton based business valuation firm that focuses on business valuations and sale advisory of small and mid-sized private companies. Max has over 17 years of business valuation and mergers and acquisition experience in the Canadian marketplace.
Max is on a mission to help current, and future pharmacy owners understand what drives value in their pharmacy businesses, realize that value throughout ownership, and preserve it during their divestiture. As a certified valuation analyst and qualified business intermediary, he lends his expertise to pharmacy entrepreneurs across the country in need of expert transactional and valuation advice.
Jason Heath is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Managing Director of Objective Financial Partners in Markham, Ontario. He is an advice-only financial planner who specializes in building Strategic Wealth Plans for clients of KJ Harrison & Partners Inc. He is a personal finance columnist for the Financial Post and for MoneySense Magazine and appears frequently in print and television media. Jason has worked extensively with retail pharmacy families and their financial planning needs.
Stephen is a Senior Private Client Business Advisor at KJ Harrison. During his 41 years of public accounting practice, Stephen provided his clients with pragmatic advice and business advisory insight. He is now proud to support KJ Harrison in their wealth management strategies for high net worth individuals. Stephen’s areas of expertise include business strategy, private enterprise tax planning services, succession and estate planning, profit and operational improvement and liquidity/exit strategies.
Prior to joining KJ Harrison, Stephen spent his last 6 years in public accounting at Grant Thornton LLP including in his role as Partner, National Leader Privately Held Business from 2013-2016. One of his significant practice areas was within the legal industry, where he advised and acted on behalf of numerous law firms (large and small).
Stephen received his BA at the University of Toronto and also holds his CPA, CA designations.
Stephen has been asked to speak on a variety of topics for organizations including TLOMA (Toronto Law Office Managers Association), the OBA (Ontario Bar Association) and the Canadian Law Firm Leaders Summit.
Rob Martini practises tax law with a focus on entrepreneurial business owners, including independent pharmacy owners, corporate reorganizations, trusts, and estate planning. He also has significant experience with cross-border taxation issues, taxation of real estate, purchase and sale of businesses, dispute resolutions and voluntary disclosures.
Robert’s practice also encompasses all aspects of transactions for small to medium-sized businesses including reorganizations, tax planning, financing, dispute resolutions and voluntary disclosure. Prior to joining Wilson Vukelich, Robert spent twelve years practising Tax as a partner in the Toronto/Bay Street area. Before entering the practice of law, he was a tax manager of the international tax group of a major public accounting firm.
Joel Clark is the Chief Executive Officer and a Portfolio Manager at KJ Harrison. Responsible for driving the firm’s strategic vision in pursuit of building the most relevant private client firm in Canada, Joel, along with Jim Harrison and a group of partners, has proudly built KJ Harrison over the past 15 years from $80 million in AUM at inception to approximately $1 billion in AUM, where it stands today.
Joel manages investment portfolios on a discretionary basis for a significant base of affluent individuals and families throughout Canada, including their trusts, estates and holding companies. He brings a holistic approach to wealth management, working closely with his clients’ other professional advisors (including family offices, accountants, corporate, tax and trust lawyers, bankers and other philanthropic advisors) to develop and quarterback a customized strategic wealth plan which optimizes each client’s investment, tax and estate strategy in accordance with their individual goals and risk profile.
Joel received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Acadia University and has earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Joel is actively involved in the community and is currently a Director of the Board of the Oakville Hospital Foundation and Co-Chair of their Development Committee.
Peter Spence is a Partner of Harrison Pensa LLP. Peter’s practice involves all aspects of corporate and commercial law, with an emphasis on securities, financing, mergers and acquisitions. Representative clients range from start-up ventures to publicly listed corporations. Peter has over 25 years experience acting on behalf of corporate retail chains, banner operators and independent pharmacists.
